Startup Cloudtenna, newest member of the NetApp Alliance Program, and mothership NetApp are combining their technologies for co-development in intelligent file sharing hardware and software.
Cloudtenna’s DirectShare software, recently validated for use with NetApp Storage, as of Feb. 28 is now bringing new IP in intelligent file share and search to NetApp’s solid state storage packages.
DirectShare uses machine learning to enable smart features on top of the leading enterprise storage technologies. Cloudtenna enables storage platforms to work directly with cloud SaaS applications, such as Microsoft Office Online, in addition to other cloud use cases. It enables smarter access, search and auditing for file services without migrating sensitive data to third-party services.
Cloudtenna’s DirectShare platform brings users of NetApp storage appliances the ability to:
–enable employees to access behind-the-firewall filers from cloud SaaS applications, such as Microsoft Office Online;
–allow employees to remotely access behind-the-firewall filers from iPhone, Android, and web;
–enable employees to securely share files and folders with external partners and clients;
–send large files fast, with no file size limits: This is up to 10x faster than traditional FTP;
–intelligently search and audit your file services with Cloudtenna’s added machine learning intelligence; and
–enable intelligent, Google-like search through millions of enterprise files, behind the firewall, to find the best matches for individual users.
